About

33 years old, married, no children, live in Raleigh, NC.  The recession has made our lives a little more difficult but the Lord has been very good to us.  We love TV, movies, cooking, church, blogging.

I started this blog because I feel like I have a lot to say.  There are certain things I seem to always be giving solicited advice about – jewelry, online dating, direct sales, weddings, buying a house, making it through the recession, the CPA exam.  I will be blogging about these topics and more.

Oh, and I constantly struggle with my weight.  I will probably be blogging about a lot of diet stuff.

I saw your comments on Tim Cork’s Clarksburg web page and thought I would visit your page. I maintain a web page for my graduating class at Notre Dame HS. I currently live about a hour from you on Lake Gaston, VA. My wife and I are retired. I was born in the Eastern Panhandle of WV (Hedgesville) but grew up in Clarksburg. I saw that you were from Wallace.

Good luck with your CPA Exam. Good thing you don’t have kids while at it. It took me 2 years to finish it, right until the day they were to take my 1st passed section away if I didn’t pass the last one. So yes, I just passed it 2 months ago in July 2010. I was working too. So it was basically work, then study at night- nothing else. Weekends, pure studying. It’s just pure dedication and commitment because there are a lot of information to get into your head. I suggest watching video lectures, like from Becker Review, so you don’t have to do as much monotonous reading. Videos are awesome I’d have to say. You can watch them as many times as possible to try to get it all in your head. Of course, they are only reviewing the material and does not cover what’s all in the book. I’d have to say passing the CPA Exam does not open doors right away from my experience. For me, I don’t have that much experience. Companies look for experience since it saves the company time and money to train, etc. CPA is a plus. CPA firms seem to require it- almost mandatory.
On the other hand, passing the CPA Exam tells you a lot about the person: hard working, high achiever, dedication, perseverance, and challenge-oriented. For what I went through, I can tell you I had all those traits. A person w/ a CPA is definitely a big plus IMO- to pass test that hard is a very big accomplishment and a big sacrifice they had to make in regards to their nights and weekends.
I’m very proud to have passed the CPA Exam. Some people do not know what it takes to pass it. But with people like us, we well-respect each other because we know what we had to go through to pass it!
