1. Most of the things that were “needs” to me in 2008 were really only “wants” all along.
2. Everything in life is out of my control.
3. God truly exists. He’s the one who’s really in control and He always has been.
4. Take nothing for granted. Especially medical and dental benefits. After a year and a half of having no insurance, swiping my debit card for a $20 co-pay gives me unspeakable joy.
5. Appreciate the little things. They’re really all you have.
6. My survival instincts are much greater than I ever anticipated.
7. Even the best laid plans can change in an instant. Instead of crying about your shattered dreams, just make a new plan.
8. Somebody’s paycheck may be bigger than yours, but that doesn’t mean they actually have more money than you. At the end of the month they might not have two nickels to rub together. Live within your means.
