Is anybody else in shock over that finale? I expected to be disappointed, but what I experienced was well beyond disappointment. While Lost was definitely a character driven show all along, I always considered The Island to be just as much a character as any of the actual people on the show. Yes, I can choose to be happy with the way things ended, or I can be bitter. I want to choose happy. And usually in life, I can make myself happy just by talking myself into it. I can’t this time.
My first complaint – I never cared for Jack. I won’t get started on it. I hate that it was a Jack-centric ending. But I saw it coming, considering it was mostly a Jack-centric show.
Complaint number 2 – why was Christian Shepherd there? We found out this season he was just a body for the smoke monster/Man in Black to inhabit. It wasn’t really Christian Shepherd. So he was never actually a bonafide character. Again, Jack-centric…
Complaint number 3 – we never found out why there was an Egyptian statue on the island.
Complaint number 4 – we never found out why there was a temple.
Complaint number 5 – why could none of the women who got pregnant on the island carry their babies to full term?
Complaint number 6 – what was so special about Walt? There was much ado about Walt during the first two seasons. Why?
Complaint number 7 – I always liked Shannon and Sayid together, but after she was killed by Ana Lucia we heard little about her. The only woman Sayid ever mentioned was Nadia, for several seasons. And suddenly, he and Shannon reunite and and they’re happy. Although, I have to admit, their reunion was the highlight of the finale for me, it doesn’t really add up.
Complaint number 8 – Desmond’s purpose was to uncork the island? That’s it? He has this super electromagnetic immunity thing going on because he was needed to pull a huge, stupid cork out of the little pond in center of the island?
Complaint number 9 – we never found out why The Island had healing powers.
I need to stop now.
